Hello Jenn, I had my L4 and L5 vertebrae's fused about 6 years ago. I used to have a very active job, and now I have been setting behind a desk for about 5 years. I am wanting to start training for for playing pool tournaments. I have noticed lately that I am starting to get very tired in my legs after about an hour and a half of practice time. With your background I was wondering if you could give me some advise on how to get started with a training program. Also congratulation on a great 2004 and I am looking forward to seeing you have a better 2005 year.

Hey BR,

Before you get started on a workout program you should check with your doctor to see if there are any exercises you should avoid. Other than that I would start with a healthy diet and some cardiovascular work to build your stamina (ask your doctor which one is best for someone with a lower back problem like yours). This will help your endurance at the table. Muscle building, especially for your spinal erectors and abdominals, is important because these muscles will help support your spinal column and relieve pressure, but the difficult thing about building these muscles is working around your injury...so once again, ask your doctor what's best. Hope this helps.

Jenn
