Fixing a Cracked Slate

Does anyone have a suggestion for a product that would be strong enough to fix a crack in a piece of slate but not have to be put on so thick as to throw it out of square?

The previous owners of the house I just bought left an 8 ft drop pocket table because they cracked the slate trying to take it apart. They stuck a board in the side pocket and tried to pry the slate up without realizing that it was bolted down under the felt.

The crack is in the center piece of a three piece bed. It starts at the side pocket and runs diagonally to meet up with the main slate seam about a third of the way across the table.

Thanks for the site. That particular product is more for surface imperfections, but an answer to one of the questions in the FAQ states that they do have what I am looking for. Its not carried in the online catatlog, will have to call them.

Try Marine tex. You can get it from almost boat shop. It's grey in color and dries as hard as steel. Sands pretty easy. Doesn't shrink. I've used it a couple of times whrer big chunks were broken out at the seams. Good Luck, John G
