I know that at least one of the banners on the main page is flash (the Jeanette Lee one). If you were to visit the main page, and you didn't have a flash player installed, you would be prompted to download Macromedia Flash. I believe this is a setting in your browser that you can turn off if you don't want to be automatically prompted to install plug-ins that are needed to view whatever site you're at.

So, to quickly answer the question about spyware, the prompt to install flash was not an attempt to install spyware or adware on your computer.

Edit: I lied. I can't find any setting in either Firefox or IE that allows you to toggle that behavior. I could have sworn I saw something to control that. I guess you're stuck getting automatically prompted to install plug-ins when you visit a site that uses some media that you don't already have a plug-in installed for. :)

How do you determine if you have spyware on your computer? If you do have it how do you get rid of it and keep from getting it?

Thanks for the info Jimmy! The popup for flash player was on this Forum & not the intro page! Thats why I was somewhat alarmed. Never seen this before on the Forum itself. Thanks!

Yeah, like he said, it's the banner at the top of the page that's causing it. The banners rotate so it's not always there but comes up periodically.

Hi Kevin. I run Adaware but, it is not 100%..Nothing is in Spyware detection. The signs of an infection are mysterious popups that you never have seen before & a possible computer slowdown. Everything seems to take forever & a day to load up. Adaware is free to download. It has saved my Biscuits more than once but, it is not 100%. Hope this helps!
