Florida Tour....that extra day.....

It looks like adding a extra day to the tournament has reduced the turnout as only 54 players showed up. The last 2 Nothern Florida stops Melbourne and Springhill had 92 and 78 players. Adding an extra night in a hotel and having to take a day off from work probably kept some people away. I know it kept me away. It has just become too expensive for some of the "local shortstops" like me to attend. Guys like me show up because we like a chance to play with the big boys...we don't expect to make any money. When we do, its a suprise and usually doesn't cover our expenses. However, it looks like the Tour can succeed as a true "Pro Tour", and doesn't really need the local guys anymore. In the past years, the local guys were the backbone of the Florida tour....thats long gone.:( :(

I see at least 7 players that made the trek from the west coast of Florida, but I agree with you, the extra day didn't help the turnout. They should easily be able to fill a 64 player field.... imo
