Follow up to the learning strokes thread

I think a left handed stroke is more difficult. But I guess it could depend on if your right forearm is longer than you left forearm. That may even be a bigger issue than being right or left eyed. Of course, if you are tall, say over six feet, then you have to bend over farther. For tall people bending over farther makes there elbow stick up in the air higher. Then you have to take into consideration the diameter of the bicep muscle. If your bicep muscle is to big this will impede your follow through, so if your a tall person with big biceps you should defiantly stoke with your weak arm so you can follow through more. (opposite for a punch shot, then big bicep will stop the follow for you)

Back to the subject at hand. After determining the basic stroke (above), when learning new stokes always consider the above. Depending on the stoke you might need to change hands. For instance, a force follow shot you need to make sure the stick doesn't bounce up. So you might consider looking at your fingers to see which hands fingers are fatter and use that hand for your bridge. (vice verse for a draw shot to get the stick as low to the table as possible) Shots that you jack the stick up must be done right handed if your a smoker, unless you have a PP shirt like mine.

Behind the back strokes. This is where it really gets tricky. Same dominate eye as handed is very important here. If your opposite eyed as handed it is very difficult to get into position and if you have love handles, just forget shooting behind the back and go get the bridge. Incidentally, did you know that well endowed women have a definite advantage when using a bridge. When properly positioned it is like having a spring loaded cue stick. Be careful not to stand opposite the shot if you suspect that they are fake.

Trick shot masse stoke, you know, the one where the cue stick is almost vertical. Men, always make sure the thumb is down toward the ball, I know it feels more natural the other way, but take my word for it, they are not going to believe it. If you do use the thumb up method make sure to not look up and make the "just showing off" remark.

That's all for now, hope this helps
