TEXT:

I'd hate to call $10/hr reasonable, but these days it's about average. There are different membership options I've put some thought into:

monthly fees
punch cards - get 1 hour free for every 5 hours
Private club with an annual membership fee along with initial share purchase
Time shares - I know it's a stretch, but some people play the same amount of time the same time every week

Based on previous membership discussions here, our local room owner has been going through this area of the forums. So far this is what's on the table:

  • Implemented: Facebook group discount nights (increases participation because it's visible and gets people involved)
  • $100/month gives you free table time (2 free months if paying for a year in advance)
  • $xx/month gives you $10/flat rate + xx% off appys
  • Punch cards / reward points have been discussed

Any other room owners have some ideas here to increase participation? I know some of you have tried different things, we'd just like to know what has worked, and what has not.

Someone had mentioned ladies night as an idea. Curious if that worked too.

Ladies nights are a great idea if you dont mind lawsuit threats and hard feelings. We had a ladies special for years and discontinued it because many places kept losing lawsuits based on different states laws concerning sexual discrimination. I would consult an attorney before doing any ladies specials. It really is asking for trouble these days.

Facebook is our best way of contacting a younger clientele. We have had pretty good feedback. We do daily information statuses and specials about 4 times a week on Facebook.

Encouraging people to review you on Google places or Yahoo Page reviews is a great way to get your search results up on your website and give away free pool to people who actually are willing to give something in return. That has been going good for us too.

Giving out coupons to people for playing X amount of hours or X amount of dollars spent.

Prepay specials. We still have a $20 play all day special.
