atlas lathe made in 1951 has quick change gear box and 54" bed 36" between centers.when i bought it it was the dirtest piece of crap i have ever seen.i have put at leat 40 hours labor into it cleaning everything piece by piece bolt by bolt and repainting it.it still needs a few minor things but i am burnt out on it and dont really have a place to put it.it needs a motor which frequently sell on ebay for $40 - $60 two gears that go for about 10 ea. a gearbox that operates the cross slide that can be found for $40 - $60 or easily made if you have a welder and a tool post $15- $30.it only has a 3/4 through hole but still could be pretty usable with a steady rest setting up for tapering.i just would like to get my money back out of it- $750.it is right outside of baton rouge louisiana and i dount relly want to ship the thing but if you want to pay to have it boxed or palletized so be it.i will take some pics tomorrow so if you want some email me.any ?'s call 225-241-9008.the model # is qc 54 if you want to research it and there was a craftsman that was just like but i cant remember the model#.
-thanks
