i have a great southwest for sale!
yes, i know,,,,everyone says the same thing.
so let me tell you why mine is so special.
FIRST...THE BASICS
it is a standard issue SW,,,one that i bought from vince tedesco in 2000,,,numbered 322 00. it is their birdseye maple/purple heart cue. birdseye maple forearm... 6 pt purple heart(3 long, 3 short)...three veneer(black, light blue,white)....purple heart butt/one inch maple + standard SW ring design. it's about 19-19.25oz with a 13mm shaft and a 12.6 mm shaft. the 12.6mm shaft was retapered by the southwest shop from a 13mm.
WHY THIS CUE IS GREAT....
the look....the purple heart in the butt is a CURLY PURPLE HEART. this is hard to come by and absolutely gorgeous.
the hit....the two shafts have a dark reddish grain(the best i've ever seen), which makes for, imo, a superior hit. whenever i look for a good hitting house cue, or when i have one built, this is the type of shaftwood i look for. it gives me a sharp, stinging hit. i also procured a piece of old yellow micarta ferrule material(thank you tim scruggs), and replaced the 13mm ferrule. so now, the SW/13mm has as close to the original hit of an old SW as you can get today. btw,,,,there is no joint protector with this cue. i use the protector for an old fancy SW.
ADDITIONAL INFO....
the 12.6mm tip has an aegis ferrule, and both tips are HARD. i believe i put a eureka tip on them. i take great care of all my cues! this cue has been played with, yet is in excellent condition. a small air pocket in the varnish near the butt end, and a small dent or two. wrap is not greasy dirty. i wipe down all my cues before, after, and during play. i'm fanatical about cue care.
my favorite hit is with the 13mm.
in my second week with the cue i had my highest run(82). steve lipsky came in two weeks later, and asked "is this the cue?". i said yes. he ran something like 112 with it(,,,,,,,,,,,,,,the bastard!
).
THE SALE PRICE...
this ain't no "sale"

. it'll cost $2,400 IN CASH..........and i intend to give it to my best friend if it doesn't sell, or try selling it on ebay.
i prefer selling it to someone who can come into the city and try the cue. i live in manhattan. this eliminates a lot of BS and the deal can be done quickly. if you want to purchase the cue and i have to mail it fedex, then a western union wire transfer or some such......AND THE PURCHASE IS FINAL. i don't want to deal with all the hassling of returns. it's a pain.
MY REFERENCES...
if you are nervous and need verification, i can recommend you call ed young, joel hersheck, billy stroud, richard phillippi, mark kullungian(at classiccues.com), or rolando aravena(a friend who is fairly well known here in nyc).
