Does this need to be stabilized or cored to use in cues? I am interested in the 5 pieces that are 18" long.

Bob, just curious how much the wood might move when you process it after drilling a coring hole? How much undersized do you drill the hole?

It depends on the wood species. Redwood moves very little, spalted maple
moves a lot. First I turn the wood round to about 1.4" and then bore a
.758" hole. Stabilize and cure and then run the gun drill back thru the core hole
and turn the OD down to 1.3" to remove any flashing and true up the hole.
You can certainly turn down and core stabilized wood and depending on the species it will be fine but you are wasting resin and you pay for the stabilizing by the pound. I typically charge by the inch so you know exactly how much the
job is going to cost.
