Good Luck

I have been lookin to try an i2 or i3 shaft but McDermott and any I have seen selling them are a bit too proud.

I only pop in here because I was looking for an i-2 shaft for my McDermotts (I have a QR jointed M14 Sentinel and a D-16/P702 splice point with 3/8-10) and I found a brand new OB-1 for 120 shipped on fleabay and I picked up a used Z-2 for 100.

Can you give any opinion / comparison to the i shafts compared to OB-1 or 314 / Zshafts?

Thanks and Good luck with your sales

I downloaded a Deflection Ratings chart at Platinum Billiards.com site. A robot is used that produces cue ball speeds of around 15 mph and deflection noted at 50" (distance from foot string to head spot on a 4 1/2x9 table. One column posts deflection over 50" on a series of shafts. The least deflection, according to the chart, is Predator Z-2 with 29.6 mm. The 314-2 is 33.0 mm. OB-1 is 33.4, McDermott I-3 is 36.8, McDermott I-2 is 38.6, Mcdermott I-1 is 39.6, and a regurlar McDermott shaft is 42.9. An inch is 25.4 mm so you can see that the differences are fairly small. Hope this helps.

I now play with a Pred 2K4 with Z2 shaft/314 shaft. The Z2 and the I-3 are similar (Euro Taper and 11.75) and the I-2 shaft is comparible with the 314 and OB-1 (Pro taper and 12.75). I thinks as far as the deflection is concerned they are very close if not right on par with the comparibles. My first cue was a Mcdermott, so that is how I ended up purchasing the addtional aftermarket shafts. The I series shaft hit good and have a good feel. To me they feel a little on the light side. I dont use them so I am selling them for a decent price seemings they retail for well over $200.
