Just wanted to take a moment to say hi to all. This is my second post, my first was a hit and run question. Every time I tried to write something I was interrupted, so I just shot out the meat of the message. Silencer- Thanks for the info about the 15/16 oz cues. I know 2-piece cues of those weights are not common, but just curious what options I may have for finding cues in this weight range.

I'm just getting back into the game. Meaning trying to raise the bar. I never really left the game, just haven't taken it very seriously for many years. I'm currently playing in an APA 8-Ball league here in Phoenix. I played in the league back in 2000 for one session, thought I would start playing more, but started in a graduate program and just couldn't find the time to play pool, go to school and work all at the same time. I graduated about a year ago and started playing in the APA again last fall. For the fall session I was just there to play to have fun and get away from this freakin computer. I'm finding more time to play now and starting to get things together. The passion is building. The spring session has ended and miraculously our team made the playoffs. We won the first round and will be playing for the Division championship next week.

Oh... yea I have a question. I have a Lucasi "Buddy Hall" series cue with the uni-lock. I'm not sure of the model number, it was a gift. Anyway, I don't know the ins and outs of cue construction, but if I am correct there is a lacquer-type coating on the shaft, am I correct? Is it advisable to use the fine grit (600+) sand paper on the shaft?

Well back to work. You'll probably see me lurking around here and there. Catch you all later.

You could search the forum for 'shaft cleaning' and find a lot of info regarding this.........it has been discussed at length on previous threads.
Welcome!
David
