1p is a much more defensive game than most rotation games. Often a player is forced to choose between a marginal offense shot and a purely defensive shot. One mistake can end the game. By the same token, taking a chance on a difficult offensive shot can open the entire rack and win the game.

In one pocket, close often counts. Just moving balls to your side can shift the odds in your favor and leaving a ball in scoring position makes a problem for your opponent. Does he attempt an offensive shot knowing that a miss will likely leave you with a point and the possibility of generating more opportunities. He almost certainly will attempt to clear your ball from the kill zone and leave you stuck in your own pocket zone.

Banks and caroms are much more common in 1p than the rotation games. Watch the best 1p players to gain an understanding of the game.
Here are some to get you started:

Play the game, learn from getting beat, be quit & watch.

Do not give your money away playing with some one who is just beating you & playing you for whats in your wallet.

By now you should have gotten the gist that the book you are describing will appeal to a REALLY small audience. Playing the game itself and watching elite-level 1p players will do LIGHT-YEARS more than any book that you're gonna come up with. My $.02 here, nothing more.
