Chances are you won't be able to find an exact match. When this stuff is freshly cut it's lighter, and it develops a darker color as it ages, over time. Not to mention colors can vary somewhat from batch-to-batch.

I assume you want a matching shaft made for it?

Just take off the ring, from the worst shaft, and put it on the new one. Then have the same cue maker put a close replacement ring on old shaft and have it for back up? This way you have your new matching shaft, a 2nd matching shaft, and 1 close but, non matching org shaft.

Too me it would all depend on the condition of the 2 original shafts. If one was bad, i would yank the ring off it........Also, i would look for some old growth wood, that had a well aged look too it. I would not use some new, white maple shaft wood. I would want something aged......That's how i would prob do it.

thanks both shaft are still ok, the only problem is im not really used to conventional shaft i have familiarized myself to tech shaft so i was wondering if can use the sw with a tech shaft, if i can get a similar ringwork for my tech shaft ill be keeping this cue, if not its ok to part with it, but as much as possible i would really like to keep this one, this cue is really old yet the butt roll straight

The closest color phenolic to your cue is called Mahogany phenolic. You should contact KJcues here on AZ. I'm sure he can fit a tech shaft to your cue with the closest looking ringwork possible. To keep the balance of your cue perfect, weigh your southwest shafts and ask for a tech shaft that weighs the same.

had lots of wonderful offer, i had order a phenolic for this cue if its the same im keeping it., if not its up for grab luckily this cue is straight when we run on the lathe
