I think that when snooker players take up pool, they have to alter their stance because the table is a fair bit lower than a snooker table. Their feet typically aren't as square as they are when they play on a higher snooker table.

I spoke with a few snooker-turned-pool players, and they echoed my thoughts. They all (conscious or not) had to modify their stance and their stroke a bit because of the change in playing surface heights.

I think anyone who has paid any attention should see what changes Allison has made in her stance and stroke since moving to pool.

Some astute observers from the snooker world have told me that they don't think Allison's stance is a "snooker stance" at all.

thanks for the post,really helpfull !! i never really folowed there technique, ive been watching bbc for years as soon is something on, because its the only ballgame i get to see on tv here, but never looked at there technique, always there patterns.

seems that im not the only one feeling, you cant play 100% snooker on a pooltable, you keep whats good and change all what doesnt feel natural. i guess what that is, is different for anyone.

You are 100% correct the biggest change is agjusting to the shorter table. Most snooker players will eventually just either widen their stance (not that comfortable) or go a little off square to the right (right handed). Almost everybody I have seen has gone a little off square (myself included). Stephen if you are at Tony Robles event Feb 2nd I will say hi. I will probavly be the only Irish one there(unless Karen and Julie make the trip)
