MasonH Cooktown ironwood plain jane for sale. According to Mason's original post on this cue, Cooktown ironwood (also know as "red ebony") is a rare hardwood from Australia that is at 19% moisture in the ground. A Google search will tell you that its is a very hard, dense and heavy tone wood that is also used for drum, woodwinds and guitars. It hits really well, with a crisp, solid hit and nice sound.
The forearm and butt are Cooktown Ironwood, and the handle is beautiful, shimmering 4-5A quilted maple with very nice "motion" figure. It can't really be photographed, but it's gorgeous when the light hits it at different angles, because the figure moves around.
The cue weighs 19.0 and 19.1 oz depending on the shaft, and both shafts have Mason's Micarta ferrules and have ring counts of 20rpi and 30+rpi, according to Mason. The shafts are about 12.9mm and they both have layered tips, one is a Moori (3.95 oz) and one is a Kamui (3.80 oz), I believe. The shafts are both in great shape, though they may have a very slight taper roll, depending on the nap of your table's cloth.
This cue is made with the the old Kersenbrock taper and specs with total length of 57.5 inches, split evenly between the 28.75 inch butt and shaft. This cue is a stiff hitter and really hits a ton. It rolls straight on the table and is in good shape, although the finish has lifted at the rings in places, as you can see in the pics. A search here will show just how honest I've been about the condition of my cues. This cue is a great hitter in good shape that with a refinish would be awesome. This cue comes with custom matching joint protectors.
I'd like $old shipped and insured or a reasonable offer. Please feel free to make an offer.
