Hi all, im selling this cue.

the cue was made around the 1920's bye Bauer Dev. A Belgium cuemaker that made cues from the 1920's untill...

my guess is that this is one of his first cue's, as it has the Botle shape butt, wich was popular in the period before 1940's. the cue hasnt got a name, but as it has a red dot im pritty sure this cue is from him. i bought it from a friends uncle who did in 1936 and lived in belgium and no one has played with it untill now. so this is for sure a very old cue in very good shape.

the red dot is really the reason why i'm almost sure this is a 1920's Brauers. as he is the only cuemaker from that area using red or green dots.

the cue is in AMAZING good quality. it even has the original tip , ferrule and comes with a leather soft-case with some kind of fur on the inside that is in 99% shape (not sure this is the original case, as the quality seems to good to be that old. anyway, im trowing the case in as a free bonus.)

i havent made any changes to the cue and it has only one very minor ding in the joint (around 3mm long and 0.1mm wide or so), the only other part that could use repair is the red buttcap.

Cue info:

weight: 425gr
buttlenght: 73 cm
shaftlenght: 65cm
butt state: only the small joint ding and the red butcap wich has to be replaced as there is a big part missing
shaft state: top quality. cant find anything wrong.
straightness: the cue looks perfectly straight and i dont hear any weird sound when tapping on it.
tip: original tip and ferule and is 10mm wide
inlays: 24 ivory inlays in total. (not sure if the ferrule is ivory) and 1 red.
- 7 of them are at ring C and are 7mm wide (a non-even number! thats rare)
- 16 of them are in between ring D and E are also 7mm wide
- 1 of them is in between ring D and E and is 17mm wide
- 1 of them is red and is 7mm

joint: should be ivory (i cant really see it, but brauer only used ivory joints normally)
pin: brass joint, 35mm in lenght, 9mm in wide.
dated: early 1920.
cuemaker: Brauers Dev. (from belgium)
Rings: Red ring at C, red-wood ring at E
wrap: wrapless, but highly carved in the wood.
bumper: leather red bumper

more info about Brauers: http://users.skynet.be/billard.billiards/divers.htm

they where made in the same area as the Brunswick Balk collenders.

here are some pictures, but they dont do the cue justice. as its late and i dont have good lightning. more pictures can be asked for.

the cue is ready for daily playing if wished, and exept from the butt-ring, there isnt really anything i would change. would make a nice Xmas gift for anyone who is into old cue's, and likes something different. i dont think old 1900's cue's from european cuemakers come along every day.

The bottle shape is also REALLY a feature u dont see often. its been used by some belgium and france cuemakers.

Offers can be pm'ed.

hehe thx for the post.

actually i dont think u can call it a taper. the bottle moddle is actually in the butt part of the cue.

its hard to actually price this cue. its one of the cue's with the most inlays ive seen of that area and that cuemaker, and i dont think they are posted in the blue book. its a true collectionars items. ive seen a botle cue of the same area made by a french cuemaker in bad estate sell for around 300 on ebay, but it was a plain model with no inlays and ringwork and there was no ferule, tip.

i havent played with it yet, as i just bought it today. it is more forward balanced then my own playing cue, and when put together the parts fit perfectly. but i supose there are better playing cue's around. this is more a collectionars item, but if wanted u can play with the cue. u surely would get some atention. i dont think cue's with this form where made in the US. the shape was made by a handfull of cuemakers at the end of the 1800's , beginning of the 1900's, brauer being the last cuemaker the make one. (but thats what i think, after reading as much as i could about these cue's)

morning bump :)

still open for offers. i havent set a price yet, but as its xmas, and im getting some other old cue's for sale, im ready to let this one go for any reasonable offer here on azb. I dont want to put this collectable on ebay.

im getting many good feedback, pm, etc... but still no one has made a offer.

dont be afraid :) i wont bite, and dont be afraid to post a silly offer :)
i really was hoping a azb'er would be interested.

ill let it here for another week, after that its off to ebay or a french friend who is a collectionar. but if u really want a cue that u wont find alot, this is the one. feel free to pm me. this cue with the bottle shape will surely turn some heads.

'(ps i hope people are not afraid to trade, because this is my first cue im selling :o )

thx for all the nice words ruk and everyone else :)

ps the cue is still for sale, but i might keep it. i dont have to sell it quick or anything :) might sell it as a part of minicolection of european vintage poolitems.

just bought this item for a redicilous amount in england. i think even plastic cueholders new sell for more $ then i payed for this one.

from the victorian period in england, late 1800's. its made from cast iron, and has 5 of the 6 mechanics working. one has a broken pin.

i know everyone here likes brunswick cuerack holders, anything thats related to balke collender etc, titlist, but i just got a different taste i guess. but then again om from europe :D
