Full splice or not

Not sure if this is the proper forum for this post but here it goes. I was thinking of buying a Predator Hoppe cue and want to know if anyone knows what kind of construction it is? I've seen the ads for their SP's and the pic's of the full splice they do on them and was wondering if the Hoppe is also full splice? If not what type of construction are they?

full splice or not

I've seen this ad but the description of the splice leaves it unclear to me if the cue is truly of full splice construction or not.

I read that description before and if i remember right it says four splice construction, which i would take as spliced(sharp)points. A full splice would be two pieces where as that cue probably is done in 3 pieces ,butt, wrap, forearm then has 4 spliced(v-grooved) points on the forearm.

When it came out I was told by Predator reps that it is full splice.
I believe that it is build with the same method that the SP line is constructed.

From the predator site

Predator Willie Hoppe LE
The most celebrated cue of its time meets the most celebrated cue maker of our time.
In Billiards’ Golden Era, Willie Hoppe dominated the world championships so completely that Brunswick Billiards created the legendary Willie Hoppe Professional in his honor. Now Predator has resurrected the Willie Hoppe – with the same four-piece splice, inlay combination and special case – and retrofitted it for today with your choice of the 3142 or Z2 shaft. Only 500 will be made, and when they’re gone, they’re gone. So if you want to open a good, old-fashioned can of whoop ass, you better shake a leg.

Says four piece not full .I have never heard a full splice called a four splice before,,might want to ask some of the cuemakers on here, they would know better then I.

Maybe four splice is a fabricated marketing term, like corinthian leather. Another alternative is the copywriter was hard of hearing, and mistakenly heard four splice for full splice. Ask anyone who has a 12 inch pianist. :-)

not full splice

I emailed Predator and received this reply Sept/19/2007 stating it is a short splice or four splice as it is labeled.

John,

Thank you for your support in our company and our products. No sir the Hoppe is a four splice I do not believe that it is one piece throught the forearm and to the butt of the cue. Sorry about that.

Thanks again,

I bought 2 Hoppe Predator cues from Joe Nielsen aka www.joerackem.com and want to know if these LE Hoppe cues are full spliced with the rosewood being one piece thru the forearm down to the butt sleeve. By the way, love the hit, NICE JOB!!!

I own almost every model Predator built of the LE's and SE's in my personal collection.

Thank you,
John Marshall
