So maybe this is already out there but this is sometjing my cousin and i started doing that i have found really fun. So you win break by lagging, normal 8 ball rules until the 8 gets knocked down. Then whoever gets that, starts shooting after his opponents balls. For everyone of your opponents balls you knock down after the 8 is one point until you miss or run out of balls. 8 ball being your first point. This makes it so that if its a close game and 8 ball is last one standing that you dont win by very much, and your opponent is "penalized" by having balls left on the table free to shoot at. Winner breaks and continues, or you can play loser breaks too. Whoever obviously has the most points after a determined set wins. This way you dont meerly know who knocked the 8 ball down the most games, but makes it obvious who played better per game consistently. Say one person wins 15-13 in a set of 5 racks, you know they played pretty equal in game. I opted to start playing this way because we had a lot of games where all balls where off the table. Another way we have done it is winner automatically gets the points for the number of balls your oppenent has left on the table, but decided its funner to shoot at them.
