i bought this break cue and am not sure if i like it. it has a phenolic tip...i just paid 130 for it shipped...would a regular hard tip be better to break with than a phenolic tip? everytime i break the cue ball goes flying off the table. my friend wants to trade me his case and 30 dollars for this cue. the case is the excalibur 2 by 4 case, brown and black, pretty good condition, is that a good deal?

I wouldnt give up on it just yet.
The most common reason for the cueball to fly off the table when breaking is elevating the butt of the cue. Try to get your cue closer to level when breaking and concentrate on a solid hit on the head ball.

It's your technique. Try hitting the cueball with less power and focusing on hitting the cueball squarely in the center. Then increase power a little bit at a time until you are stroking without any sideways motion and hitting the cueball in the center or slightly below center.
I sometimes play pool with my Fury JB and can spin the ball just about as much as with any other tip. As a break cue it rocks but you have to dial down the power because it will magnify everything.
