Fuzzy Linen Wrap

Is there anything I can apply to the wrap to tame this mess?. I thought maybe rubbing it with wax paper might help but wanted to ask the cuemakers first.

Keep in mind, it's a cheap ass cue and I don't want to drop any money on a new wrap.

The best thing to do is bring to a cue maker or repair person and have look at it.
 
The wrap might be nylon instead of linen.
If you try to sand nylon it gets real fuzzy.
