Trying out new tips and my team captain had an extra techno dud to put on. Finished it and scuffed and this happened. Is this bad? Will it get better with play or anything I can do to fix it?

thank you.

That's not what's its supposed to look like after a good scuffing?

Hit a few balls, it'll settle it right down.

The sand paper or scuffer you're using is too coarse. 1000 grit is best with this tip.

Ain't no way that happened with normal scuffing, unless it's a "dud" tip. (Pun intended)
It was a cuetec bowtie scuffer. The tip was fuzzy after it came off the lathe and I was hoping it would clear up with a bit more take off. I got it loaded with chalk and pounded down as the tip was "squishy" until I compressed it with a cue ball tapping into it.

You weren’t scuffing with the pointy end were you?!?

It's fixable, and worth fixing. It's an excellent tip.

Just break with it like 10-15 times, it should get better. These tips are not designed to be scuffed harshly or when installed using a lathe they suggest cut the tip at slow speed and dampen the tip as you go. be gentile and you will love it.

Thanks guys, I played my league match with it beat down and the results were great. I'm going to try to get another 20-30 games in it over the next few days and then lathe it slower to shape.

Thanks all for the help

Be sure to use sharp (as in new) blades and take it slow. Great tips, but heat will mess them up if you go nuts.

It was not cut properly when shaping, and however it was scuffed was too rough. There are notes about it from Outsville on how to shape them, it takes a sharp cutter and a certain speed is best. Don't remember the details but I think there may be a note that comes with the tips when you buy them. I used the soft tips from them and when put on they were perfect and stayed perfect. Only tip I had that I can remember that did not mushroom on me much at all or loose the shape.
