Gameplan??

Playing 9-ball, i was wondering if anyone had a different gameplan playing barboxes vs 9' footers?

Best simple advice I can give is just remember its 7 feet not 9. By this I mean it's a totally different game, it's no longer long distance combat but close corders. Just make sure you look at your angles and remember typically the pockets are tighter (specially on a Diamond barbox)

Just take your time and stick with what you know, not what your use to.

Bar box I actually draw back to the head rail on the break to keep from getting kicked in... I usually get a shot and an open spread... From there it's just a matter of not poking my eye out with the cuetip or doing something equally stupid to sit myself down.

Safes if there are no decent shot options usually involve controlling whitey and sticking him to something... Distance doesn't work and balls go flying in if you leave open kicks cross table....

I had a good player tell me once to just forget about the sides if the shot would also go in the corner but that was for Valley boxes on which Hellen Keller could run racks....

Personally, I don't like to go into a game or a match with any preconceived notions of what I should or shouldn't do based on things like the size of the table, the person I'm playing against, or anything else. Of course it's good to be aware of these things, and I'm sure you will get lots of good advice, but it seems to me that there is really only ever one possible gameplan in pool: Take advantage of your opportunities. Do the best that you can with the situation you are presented with, shot after shot after shot. You're either going to execute correctly or you're not, and I don't think a gameplan can have an effect on that.

I'm no great player though, so maybe I should be coming up with better gameplans... :/
