I have now spent months on evaluating both Metal lathes, Cue lathes and CNC machinery. My question in this round is related to Gantry CNC systems.
I have looked at several different solutions, and it cooks down to the decision ball screws or a pro industrial cogwheel setup? Ball screws may be more accurate, but the precision gear systems are rated to be in the same accuracy range on the machines I have looked at.
Has any one of you a gear system or have you all gone for the big $ Techno systems with ball screws?
I would guess a gear system would be easier to maintain and cheaper to repair ?
Any advice would be highly appreciated.
