What specific type of metal are the corner castings and feet on a GC 4?

Aluminum of some sort. Early GC's used zinc iirc.
Not sure about the newer GC’s but the pocket castings on my GCI were cast aluminum.

100% not aluminum. Pot metal, just like MOST of the others. The only aluminum ones were the very first version of the GC1. I have sets of all of them on hand.
yessir! The cast aluminum ones are polishable.
So Mr. Ritchie, thanks for the info. My GC 4 is the Bronze castings. Is the bronze painted onto the pot metal or is it a thin coat of actual bronze?

it is not actual bronze. but yes, plated. I have them powdercoated. much more durable.
Correct. I should have been more specific. Bronze-colored plating. Not very high quality at that. Powder coating is the way to go.

My original chrome GC4 castings were just 'okay'. Not horrible but I'm not really into chrome. I purchased OEM original GC4 castings in plated satin nickel. They are holding up really well.
