George Rood from Ohio is one of those all-time greats who have slipped under the radar.
Here are some of his stats:
1. His high run of 280 might have been on a 5x10 table, I don't know for sure.
2. One day he spotted a guy 50-no-count in a game to 100 and ran 100 balls and out eleven straight games, that's 1100 balls without a miss, if you're counting!
3. He faced Mosconi eleven times in exhibitions and claimed a winning record. Mosconi reportedly described George as ‘the most natural player I have ever known.’
4. George ran 126 balls when he was in his late 80's.
5. George at one time was the owner of the poolroom where Mosconi ran his 526.
6. Rood played heads-up money games, avoiding tournaments, like his friend, Don Willis.

George Rood was born November 11, 1914 in Marietta, Ohio and died in Dayton, Ohio, almost 96 years later, so during his lifetime he played almost every pool legend of the 20th Century.
