If people are going to watch pool on T.V. it has to be exciting.
I watched the match between Efren Reyes and Mike Segal and found it very boring. I timed mike segal on one shot that took exactly 3 minutes and 20 seconds to decide his first shot when the table was open with all the balls on the table.
If anyone thinks that this kind of play is good for T.V. they are dead wrong.
Efren was fun to watch..... Mike boring to watch.
The only reason that I could sit through it is that I play pool and know who the players are.
If someone was watching pool on T.V. for the first time, they would change the channel for sure.
Make playing faster a part of the game. The player who knows everything about pool and position play shouldn't need to take that long to decide on a shot.
I believe that if a player needs to take that much time, he or she should go back to the practice table until they can be confident enough in thier game to make quicker decisions.
I'm not talking about speed pool here, just sped up play that is more fun to watch.
Make being able to make quicker decisions a skill required to be a great player.
This would much more fun to watch.

Even poker on T.V. is starting to see the light with a time limit for making decisions. If a player can't decide what to do in a certain amount of time
his/her hand is automatically folded.
Can you imagine a tennis match where the serving player takes 3-4 minutes to decide how to serve the ball ????
