When I was playing in a weekly tournament last night, there was also a league end of session tournament finals going on, and I learned from one of the players, Moses, that he had purchased 'The Family Game Room' here in
Wichita. This is the old 'Greg Stevens Family Game Room' that has been owned several years by Al, a friend, gentleman, and very nice guy.
Al, had lost 1 ort 2 of his children, and suffers from Diabetes, and had to have all his toes amputated on both his feet. Al is about 77 or so, but looks 20 years younger.
Anyway, I was informed the new place on West Street here, will be called
Action Billiards Pub, and already has a big horseshoe bar, and a 17 x 24' dancefloor. The place will have plenty of Pool tables, 7 and 9' tables.
(It used to have about 16-17 tables before). Moses hopes to be serving
liquor within 2 weeks. Thsi place used to cater to kids before, and now looks to go adult.
Moses is real enthusiastic, and says the motto for the new place is 'Party till your blind, Gamble till your broke'. Said he is going to cater to the gambling, and afterhours play will not be a problem. Said he already has gotten out of bed at 3 am. for let some guys have some late night action.
(with the doors locked, of course).
I like this guy already .... lol So our west side will gain a new 'legitimate'
Billiards place, and I like the afterhours action thing ... We sure have missed that since Papa Burke has been gone.
