I find Tom Ross to be a fine writer. He starting writing a column in Billiards Digest about 2 years ago.
I also understand him to be a fine teacher, and a solid player too.

The author of the article did seem to crawl along the introduction before mentioning anything juicy. As far as straight pool it seems there is no money in it and very bad for highlights because of the repetitive nature of the game. In terms of player skills I have gone from banging to controlled curves and how sexy it is.
