A kid at the local PH showed me a cue he was trying to sell. It had lots of inlays and a snake skin wrap that was covered with clear coat. It had the name Gordon or Gordon's on the butt cap. Looked like it might be Filipino. Anyone familiar with this brand? BTW, the kid wanted $250 for the stick.

Must be philippine's made. they are the only ones that i have seen put on a snakeskin wrap and cover it to protect it from falling apart due to handling....jmho.........................mike

the one guy near me had one he got off ebay really cheap.. had the cleared over snakeskin wrap.. i would almost swear that the wrap is some sort of decal.. the one i saw . deffinatly didnt look real...

I've seen them on ebay for cheap. It's been awhile though under $100 with shipping.

Might be a decal

I'm going to check out that "snakeskin." If it's a decal, that would explain why they put the clear coat over it. Thanks!

Interesting....

I checked eBay, but there aren't any on there right now. I'll keep my eyes open for one. Thanks!

Just found them on eBay and they are CHEAP cues!

I finally found them on eBay. They aren't listed under "Gordon's," but under "Handmade Billiards Pool cue stick." At present there seem to be 10 of them on eBay, none with a bid more than $39.99. The young kids in one of the local pool halls think this guys stick is extra nice and it does have a decent hit. But you might get one of these cues and have it fall apart on you or have some inlays come loose. Anyway, the mystery has been solved. Thanks to all who replied.

BTW, the kid with the cue turned down an offer of an almost new $200+ Lucasi with a leather wrap PLUS $100 cash in trade for his cue. He should have jumped at that one!

I have to admitt that although the Philippines turns out the best players in the world, their local banger populations taste in cues has much to be desired!!
I've been there several times, and I can no longer count how many painted dragons, loud snakeskins, and other tasteless designs I've seen. However, the one design in particular that sticks with me was the clear transparent ferrules!!!

transparent ferrules?

For some reason, a transparent ferrule sort of appeals to me. Just the oddity of it I guess.

Most of these cheap cues are "decal cues". Why else would they be $39.99 to $150.00. Junk buyer beware.

inlays

From looking at the cue, I think the mother of pearl and abalone are real inlays, but the "snakeskin" might be a decal.
