for years i broke with an old player i put a buffalo tip on and did ok with it. then last year i picked up a cue at a pawn shop that had a g 10 tip on it, again i did ok with it.
last fri i finally decided to get a real break cue and pulled the plug on an alex brick jump/break cue. to coin a phrase from the for sale forum, THIS THING HITS A TON !
i just did not know what i been missing out on till i bought this cue. my break really hurt me at the regionals this year and that was the main reason i decided to buy a cue designed for breaking.
i met a teamate at the pool hall tonight and we played some 2 sets of 9 ball , race to 9. i am a 5 and he is a 6. i beat him some times but more often than not he beats me, either way its usually pretty close.
well... it was not close tonight. i won the 1st set 9-4. i won the 2nd set 9-3. my break was the biggest factor in why i won both sets tonight . i never scratched , usaually made one or two balls leaving the cue ball mostly in the center of the table. i made the 9 on the break 3 times in those 2 sets. once in a bottom corner and twice in one of the top corners.
oh .. i fooled around practicing jumping afterwards. think its gonna help my game in napa league where jump cues are allowed. :grin-square:
to all you guys that do not have a dedicated break cue that is designed solely for breaking.... i just gotta say this cue made a believer out of me.
