Got my Magic chalk, review

This is not really a review just a few comments about my experience with the chalk. It is by far the best chalk I have ever used and I am old, it's really amazing. I have played for hours without a miscue but more then that.

I have a surge in confidence on certain shots. Long draw shots in particular. I feel totally confident shooting the length of the table and drawing the ball back.

Even on simple little nip shots, stop shots and small draw shots I have more control and I can feel it. I should add, this is with a tip that is kind of lousy, I was just going to change it.

I even tested it with a phenolic tip and you could draw and spin the cue ball. It takes a lot of nerve to name a product "Magic", but it lives up to the name. I am afraid my Kamui chalk I guess just got the ax. Then to top it off, the stuff is not even expensive.

That is all I really have to say, I think if you don't have a piece in your case you are taking the worst of it. If you play on league get a few pieces for the players to use at the table because you know they are too cheap to buy it themselves.

If I was in the pool chalk business and had to compete with this stuff I would be pretty depressed.

Is there a cheap way to ship to Canada?? I was just looking and the cheapest I can find is around 38 dollars.

A good friend gave me a new piece of Magic Chalk and while I don't miscue very often with any chalk, I didn't notice any reduction in miscuing but I did notice a reduction of chalk on my hands. Normally when using most chalks my hands turn blue and have to wash regularly to remove the blue from my hands.

I shoot a lot of pool these days so I don't know if I want to develop a habit of not chalking before each shot but think the chalk works as well as any other.

Sometimes, when we try new equipment, we pay more attention to what we are doing and we get better results. Not saying that you can't get more draw with Magic Chalk but I think like some things, we get better results because we are paying attention and I'm all for that.

That was my main reason for loving it. I'm trying to set a psr that includes chalking every shot but even before trying to set one I chalked every couple so pretty much any chalk would probably work for me. I used 1080 for a long time and every time I got done shooting my hand was dyed blue. To me Magic Chalk applies like the 1080 but it doesn't look like I had a little fun with a smurf at the end of the night.

What makes it a pain besides the price, is you have to fill out a customs form, and you MUST go to the counter, you cannot use the self-service Kiosk to ship internationally. The self-service Kiosk is open 24 hours, 7 days per week, and almost never uses it or if there is, it's usually only one person in line. So, in and out of PO in no time flat.

I wish I could find a dealer in Canada that would sell Magic Chalk, then he can ship inside the country to everyone else, make a few bucks himself, and I only have to go to the "human clerk" just once ;) Blu Hog Ridr, are you listening ???

I suspect he would have PM'd you by now, but ChicagoRJ sent me some with a far more reasonable shipping charge.

I was just wondering because I was checking out shipping because I was going to send a cube out for someone to try but it looks like it's kind of spendy to ship even 1 cube.

Yeah, it's like an extra $7-8 dollars on top of the $3, so for about $11 or $12 for shipping to Canada via USPS. Probably only be worth it if the person buys multiple boxes.

In my experience as a Canadian receiving stuff, the best way to have anything shipped from the US to Canada is via good old fashioned USPS. Commercial couriers like UPS often charge a customs brokerage fee that is higher than both the cost of the goods and the shipping. No brokerage charges with USPS.

magic chalk

Hope you find a distributor in Canada for the chalk will be a lot easier and cheaper on the shipping charges.

RJ was kind enough to give me a partially used block a few months back. I didn't really try it until a week or so ago and found that I really enjoyed it and it at least allowed me to shoot more without chalking up.

Finally went ahead and ordered some more from him.
