Great Stories

you're right

These are great stories; some of the best I've read about pool and gambling and the characters that were; Jimmy should write a book; when I read his stories, I can really imagine the atmosphere and excitement of the time he is describing....I would like to read more of the same....Dave Piona (a pretty good player who lives in California) once told me about this place called "The Rack" in Michigan and how it was the most unbelievable action pool hall ever....must be the same one Jimmy refers to.....he said when you walked into the place their was nonstop action for big money on just about every table....said they called him "Cadillac Dave" back then, after he made a big score and went out a bought a Cadillac....I just love those gambling stories..
THANKS JEFF...

my favorite

Oh, I forgot to mention my favorite of all these stories was the one about Ronnie Allen.....that's because I live in California and just within the past year or so, I was at a tournament in Mountain View, California, and Ronnie Allen was there...He entered the tournament and was disqualified after somebody (his opponent, I think) complained to the tournament director (some lady who might not have known this legend) for his antics or language (I don't remember which) but some people who knew Ronnie did not like the fact that he was basically tossed from the tournament.......Anyway, he proceeded to make a one-pocket action game with one of the young sharpshooters in the place, playing one-handed against the opponent's two-handed game...He was talking and joking as he's probably done for maybe the last 30-40 years.....what a moment for me to experience; talk about living legends doing their thing right before your eyes.....it was so much fun to watch....

I had never heard about Willie Mosconi's temper before. Knocking the referee out.
