GREATH deal but it has a downside... help needed

Hi all,

as im closing in (D-day -3) before i get my 9ft diamond pro, im looking into changing the green lights that the guy gave with it.

now for months im so in love with this light.

I absoluty love it. Now the light is not cheap, but cheap compared to for example a diamond light etc. The price is 450€ = 600+$.
Now i found a place where they still had one, that they bought a LONG time ago, before the inflation. He is selling it to me at the price he payed it at that moment. aka 290€ = 400$ as it is the last one. Now the problem.

the one i wanted measures. 205 x 31 cm
but he only has one light of that brand/type and it is the bigger version: 247 x 31 cm for the same price as the smaller one, and at the old price of the small light. GREATH!

BUT

Is the bigger size not a problem? I mean 247 thats the lenght of my table... Will it not hamper me on certain shots, or will my head (or lamp) not stand in eachother way? Will it hamper my break?
should i hang the light higher then normal or is 247 really not a problem?
Im SO close to taking the deal on, but just want to be sure...

It sound like a great deal, but please make sure that it is a Original Compact-light.
As far as I know there are copies from China on the market... quality and finishing are not even close compared with the original model which you showcase in opening post.

No, you want the bigger one. The smaller one is a 7.5 foot light, and would cast shadows near the end rails, and could make seeing balls near the end rails more difficult.

The 247 cm is an 8 foot light, and that's what you need and is standard for a 9 foot table. I still think the guy is making something for $400. I have a friend that builds lights like that for about $225. I think $350 is about right for the light, IMHO. Go with the light, but I sure would haggle a little to see if he would knock $50 off the price. I like the light though.

You really need to get the larger one. Where I live now, it's common in commercial rooms to have shorter lights on 9 foot tables. I don't understand why. With the shorter lights, you have shadows on/near the cushions and cutting a ball thin can be a problem, especially on long shots.
Go for the larger light.

ok, thx alot for the help.

I just thought that the light would not go down vertically, but rather at an angle. (i mean the light isnt 1.26m large either, still it gives light to the whole wide).

About the copy's, im abit afraid too.

compare these two. this are the pictures from different local websites, that sell the "same" light, for the same price +-.

They are not the same.. (u can see holes on the side in one, and not in the other..) Wich one is the 'real' thing?
