Greg Sullivan came up with a great idea for the Jan.,05' DCC Ring Games! We're hoping to get 12 players for two games. So far Alex, Archer and probably John Schmidt are going to play. That leaves some really quality champions, like Duell, Reyes, Parica, Strickland, Bustamonte, Jeremy Jones, etc, who need a sponsor.Greg suggsted raising the $5,000 entry fee for one player through a news group.I can't think of a more exciting way to have fun and maybe make some money, too.
Let me trot tentative figures out there: 50 people come up with $100 each or 25 people come up with $200 each.If you wanted me to, I'd gladly raise, say $1000 of it.
OK, the traditional way to "whack up" money when a player is staked/sponsored is 50/50. So if we did get a group up to do this (this time second place will get back the $5,000 entry fee), and our man finished 3rd, 4th, 5th or 6th, we'd be out our $5,000. If he/she ( don't think I'd bar a lady)
finished second everyone would get back 95% of their investment because I'd want the player to get $250 for playing brilliantly and protecting our money. If our "horse" won, of the $25,000 that'd be left after giving the second place finisher $5,000, we'd get back our original 5 dimes and we'd split the $20,000 with the player.
For those not good with figures, let's say you invested one fiftieth or $100, if your guy won you'd get back $500 total.
If we, as a great newsgroup, did this, I'd be glad to proffer my opinion as to who I think the best player would be to select, then we could simply have a vote to decide.
Time is of the essence in this matter, though, because the best players are going to be picked quickly.
Thanks, Grady
