Hello, I am having some trouble on deciding on wether to let in the butt of the cue hang on my fingers or to grip it between my thumb and the index finger. What works best?

I just do a full hand grip but hold it fairly loose. Don't crank down on it.

Wimpy Lassiter would grip the cue by craddling it in his fingers but not allowing the cue to come in contact with the palm of his hand. Steve Mizerak wrote that he gripped the cue using his thumb index and middle finger. These are just a few examples.
I craddle the cue lightly in my thumb index and middle finger, barely allowing the cue to contact the palm of my hand. My other two fingers are free from the cue.
i like the thumb and middle finger only.
On thing I noticed, which I find to be very interesting, is that a lot of people have compared Allison to Karen as they both have a square stance and a strong snooker background. I watched their grip and I think they are quite different.
Correct me if I am wrong, here is what I observed:
With Karen, she plays with a very slim butt, hold the cue at the end of the butt, opens her grip hand at the end of her backswing. I also noticed a small gap between her cue and the part between her first finger and her thumb.
With Allison, I noticed she holds her cue much futher up, although her cue is shorter, and she does not seem to open her grip hand like Karen does. I also could not see any gap between her cue and the part between her finger and her thumb. As a mater of fact, I saw very little finger or wrist moverment from her.
Is it possible that Karen uses her first few fingers while Allison used her last few fingers?
I am not sure if both of them are using a conventional snooker grip, I do think their grips look very different. Just something I have noticed.

i make sure the cue is snug in the web of my hand, then i only use my middle and 4th fingers to hold it
With Allison and Karen, the similarity is that they both keep a very relaxed grip throughout the entire stroke. The reason they hold it in different places is because of their physical stature. Karen, being taller, is naturally going to grip the cue further back. If you watch carefully, I would bet that when the tip actually makes contact with the cue ball, that both of them have their forearm perpendicular (90 degrees) from the cue at that moment.
