I emailed the Palmer K's owner. here is what I said
In case he wasn't aware of what I was trying to say between the lines, I sent another email saying
Here is the response I receivedThat is a nice Palmer you have. Proficient Billiards does an escrow thing. Everyone knows them.

You send the cue to them , they take detailed pics and send the pics to me, with a statement as of the condition of the cue. If verything looks good, I send them the money which they forward to you. I'll pay the 50$ charge if I'm the high bidder. Are you willing to do this? Most of the people that would buy you cue are hesitating because you have no EBAY history. That way everyone is protected and satisfied.
thanks dana
I don't know about the rest of you, but unless some compelling reason comes up, I just cancelled my plans to bid on this very nice cue. I pointed out that I would pay for the escrow fee. There have been too many instances where a "straight" cue was crooked as a dog's leg. There have been instances where a cue has not shown up. I can't afford to send the kind of money needed to buy this cue and it show up crooked or not at all. I sent another email one minute after the other asking if the cue was straight and rolled straight and he didn't reply to that question. It was hours later after I sent the messages that he replied, so he should have had received both messages.Dana,
Thank you very much for the information and the honest feedback that people might be hesitating because of my no e-Bay history. Yes, this is the first item that I have tried to sell on e-Bay. I bought one small thing about 6 months ago, but that?s it. However, I have several other personal things to sell (will probably have another one out tomorrow), and I also plan to begin selling some things for my business on e-Bay. So I am very interested in having a positive rating.
Right now I would rather not use the escrow service. I would prefer to keep it as simple as possible following the e-Bay rules and policies. If the winning bidder is dissatisfied for any reason, I will refund their money, no problem, if they let me know within 7 days.
I didn?t know about the escrow service, because I am not a collector. This is the only special cue that I have. I do play pool, and when we got a new table I bought a new Pechauer that I use. The Palmer has pretty much been sitting in the case (just a soft padded one) since the linen was redone (even though it does play much better than my other cue). I don?t even display it.
In case he wasn't aware of what I was trying to say between the lines, I sent another email saying
but he hasn't replied yet, if he does I'll update you. Thanks for your reply. I forgot to say that the pool shooters at the forums have mentioned there there have been instances in the past at EBAY where people have received supposedly straight cues that are crooked as a dog's leg and in some cases have sent their money and received no cue at all. That is why an escrow service is highly thought of.
thanks dana
