I have two different cues that were made by a cue maker in Houston Texas that are both 58 inches. I recently started putting my hand past the wrap and over the butt of the cue and my non player shoots more consistently that way. Is that a length of cue issue or balance point Issue? I am 6 foot 5 & I am wondering if I should be shooting with a longer than standard cue. I don't know much about cue design but I shoot decently and liked the way these played.

You probably would like a longer cue. With a long "wingspan" like yours it might give you the room you need to have a proper stance.

I doubt that the cue's balance has anything to do with it.
