hiya all,
just came back from my VERY long saterday. Today was the 1st chance for qualifying for the national 8ball championship of my country. unluckily, almost all the top32 players chose the saem club and it was , according to the organiser, the hardest qualifying ever, with only greath players. there where around 100 players with probably 90% of top100 players.
i lost my first match vs the current #5, having played well, 1-5 (but could easly have gone the other way). It moved me to the losers side,and well... the organiser told when i asked him who id probably will be playing, he toldme i might as well pack my bags and go home
I Had a easy 2d match. a newcomer just like me, i played VERY VERY bad, needing around 4 - 5 runs to run out a pack. but still won 2-5 (hate to win when im playing bad)
but then the magic happened. having nothing to lose, being the only clubcue player left, im currently @ 149, and only top 50 players left, i just did my thing, and then it happened. I started to very good, winning 2 matches, i started to get into the zone, winning 2 more matches (kicking out the # 12 and # 16), and then tha magic happened, i got OVER THE ZONE. no idea what happened. ive been playing pool for 3 months now, and i played better then any match of pro's ive seen on the internet. (i usually runout 1 / 10 racks in 8 ball!!! record is 2 times in a row in practice last week) , here i run out 5 racks in a row winning vs the #7 of my country, leaving my oponent having pot 0 balls. just break, run out. (i dont have a break cue, so my brakes are pritty crap) but even if i had to many combo's, ALOT of cluster opening while pocketing (around 3-4 clusters each game), it all just went in, en cluster broke exactly like planed. Many people gathered around the table after i was 3-0 up , and most top16 players who where waiting for there game where all amazed. 5-0 win over the guy, runout all the racks.
i felt like SUPER MAN, its the best game i EVER played, FAR above my best pratice level, and its the greatest feeling ive had in pool this year. And how i played today, im pritty sure i was unbeatable.
So i qualified in the first day, kicking out ALOT of top32 players. will play the finals next week.

Renard , bruin for the AMAZING job on helping to spot good run-outs. thinking of runout paterns really made me improve ALOT. before i only thought 3 balls ahead.
