The important thing to look at for hardness in a cue wood is endgrain hardness or compression strength. Most flooring companies are only interested in hardness form the side or cross grain. The book The Encyclopedia of Wood gives these properties but it is kind of limited. If someone knows of a better or more comprehensive book I would be very interested as I am always looking for info on wood.
