My buddy and I were going to go down to Denver to play in a tournament they were having at Rack'em Billiards in Aurora, at 11AM this morning. Seems as if the tournament has been postponed. BUt we plan on going down anyway and just do some shooting today and Sunday.

Anybody know of anything tourney or otherwise going on this weekend in Denver?

I think Table Steaks has a tourney on Sundays?

Yes, Table Steaks has a nice tournament every Sunday ($22) entry fee w/guaranteed $200 for 1st if 8 entries. However, I also believe that the 1st Sunday of every month it is 1-pocket: race to 2 on winners; race to 1 on losers side. I'm not 100% sure of this because I don't get down there to play, but I think I'm close if not accurate. Match Up's in Fort Collins has a 9-ball big table tourney every Sunday starting at 3PM. $10 entry and game weight handicapping. They serve free taco bar during Bronco games w/drink purchase, too.

If you go to Cue Time's website: http://www.rklsmartbooks.com/books/cuetimes9/index.html you can rifle throught the paper and see what's up all over. I think Cheyenne is having a tournament starting Friday afternoon so it may be a little slower than normal. Not sure how many that will draw, I know some from Fort Collins/Loveland are going.

Have fun.

Thanks, Dave. For us old guys that can't see or stroke as good as we used to, one pocket might be the better call anyway.

Thanks for the info.

I hear dat! Sorry, "that", I'm too old for that kind of talk :).

Not to hijack the thread, but as of Monday, I will be working in the Denver area and was wondering about more info concerning places to play and weekly tournaments. I've been to Table Steaks South and am impressed, so that's one place I'll be playing at from time to time. Never been to Rackem, but would like to know more. Anybody know about other places to play? Table Steaks East? How is it? A players room? Wymkoop? Greenfields?
In particular, I'm looking for places with 9 footers, and would like to find some tournaments held on weeknights as I'm only going to be in the area during the work week and commuting back to the western slope on weekends for a few months.
Would love to also meet a few fellow AZers too.

Rack em is great for practice, they have older diamonds and one pro-am. They have pool for $1 an hour MON and WED and $5 for all day Sun. They do mostly bar-box tourneys but do have a 9' during the week that is good, they have been moving it around so I'm not sure which night it is on. If your looking for Golf action Hank's (Old Paradise Billiards) has daily games and offers pool for $5 from 10am to 4pm M-F. Wynkoop has a Wed 10 ball tourney and Table Steaks south has them on Th and Su and decent action all week. Greenfields is Barbox only but is a nice place and does free pool on Wed and Fri I believe. Cuetimes.com will give you the rundown as well.

Unfortunately, since CueTimes changed ownership, they only advertise tourneys of those rooms that advertise with them. But they still have a nice index of rooms w/numbers so you can cll any of those rooms you are interted in. Also start asking the players you see in other tourneys, they'll fill you in.

If you ever find your way to Fort Collins, I play out of Match Up's in their Sunday tourney most of the time, please say hi.

Welcome,

Dave

Dave, I don't know if you remember me, but several years ago when I still lived in Japan, and we exchanged a few messages of getting together one day when I return to Colorado. Don't know when I can swing it, but I will definately try to make the trip to Ft. Collins sometime in the next couple of weeks.
Look forward to meeting you.
