First off I'm sorry if this is not the correct place for this type of inquiry. Mods please move to appropriate section if this is the case.

I acquired a Lucasi cue recently but know nothing about it's linage or when it was produced or a model number to reference. I do have a few very high resolution pics that I can direct you to for help.

The cue has 4 blue diamonds on it and one side of the butt says Lucasi while the other XVIII. Can anyone tell me more about this particular cue. I'll take all information I can get.

Thanks a ton, here is a link to the full resolution pics when you get to the page you can click on the picture to get it to enlarge.

EDIT: Just a quick update I talked to the person I got this cue from last night. He claims that he inherited it 12 years ago from an older gentleman that was unable to play any longer due to having a stroke. He claims to remember this gentleman having this cue at least 5 years prior to giving it to him.

If correct that would make the cue approximately 17 years old. Does that add up or change any opinions regarding value?

An entry level Lucasi.

I dont want to be the bearer or bad news or anything. There is no lineage to this cue. It is a lower end model from Lucasi that is prob worth no more than $100.00. If it is of the Hybrid line it would be a little more expensive.

Retail brand new I am sure it was under 300. Sorry if it isn't what you want to hear.

No need for apologies. I wasn't necessarily 'wanting to hear' anything. I was just curious about the cue. It hits well and that's all that really matters in the end. I also got a Lucasi 'Competition' cue (22oz) in this deal as well. Both sticks and a pro series case for 100 bucks. I couldn't turn that down.

I would like to get a new shaft for it though as there are a couple of dings in the current one. Do you have a suggestion on a shaft that would fit well with this butt?

Call them directly

A better picture of the joint would help. You can prob call Lucasi and order a shaft with matching ringwork for under 150. You could also go with their Hybrid line of shafts. I have heard good things.

Piloted 5/16 x 14

Looks to me like a piloted 5/16x14. Any shaft with those dimensions should work. If you want original - go to Lucasi.

Aftermarket there is a ton of options. From Predator to Players there are tons of shafts out there. You can even pick up some cheaper used ones on AZ.

Have a great day and welcome to the community.

I did just call a lucasi retailer and they said it was a unilock pin. So whenever I order a shaft they told me to just specify a unilock.

Heading over to that section now. Thanks for the warm welcome!

They are wrong

It is absolutely not a uni-loc. You don't have to believe me, i'm sure someone else will come along and confirm this for you as well. Uniloc joints have a post on them and not as many threads.

I do trust you. The person I was talking to over the phone did not have the ability to view the pictures that I took for you. I guess a trip down to Michael's Billiards hall is in order. Mike or Dick should be able to confirm what type of shafts I should be looking at once they are able to physically inspect it.

I have a modern Lucasi and as they all come with the uni-loc joint that's probably why the retailer said it would be uni-loc. The ones in the pictures are certainly NOT uniloc.

The male end of the uni-loc joint is a smooth shaft with 3 threads at the bottom.

That makes sense as for why the retailer would have told me that without access to the pictures. I have a feeling this cue is an older one.

Yeah this is not a uni lock joint I am guessing it's 5/16x14 plioted joint. You can go with a Joss/OB/Predator and even a newer Lucasi Hybrid.

A friend of mine has a Lucasi shaft on his Joss butt so I know you can get one.

Good Luck in your search...

It's simply a Lucasi XVIII

There was one for sale on an Asian Ebay clone site a while ago. I don't read pictocharacters so I don't know what it sold for.

Bump any more opinions. The cue repair man Dick at the pool hall I go to said this was a 5/16th 18 thread pin.

He also said "Good Luck" finding a shaft, is that just because he wants me to buy a custom shaft from him or are they legitimately hard to find?

edit: nevermind i should make sure to use my google fu before posting I have found plenty.
