Am having lots of trouble. I have a pechauer jp19-L and was using the regular full 13mm standard shaft that came with it. Upgraded to an OB classic Pro which is 11.75mm. I really wanyed just the classic or any ob/predator ld shaft that was 12.5 or 12.75mm whichever size they come in but not this one because its a huge huge diameter jump.

My question is this... What recommendations can anyone make to help me get used to this shaft? I've only had it for a few days and shot with it for less than an hour but I'm missing everything. I know it takes time and no one can tell me something that will instantly make me better but is there anything I can do to help myself to learn to use this shaft or...

Should I just look for a low deflection shaft with a bigger diameter? Didn't really want to spend the money on another shaft and then have this one just sitting around. Anyone got anything to help me? I would seriously appreciate it.

Thanks,
Justin B.

You just need some time to readjust your aiming to the shaft. It will be more fine tuning and precise aiming at first and soon it will become second nature to you. That shaft will play more true than just a regular shaft and it may take you a while to readjust but it will be worth it in the end. I went through it also.

You just need time to adjust, that smaller shaft can look like a toothpick and make you feel like you have to be more precise etc. In reality, the 1 mm difference is not a big deal, you can't effectively get further out on the edge of the ball, and the contact patch is the same. Just a visual trick.

I've played well with both a 12.75mm 314-2 style shaft as well as both the Z2 and OB2 and some custom shafts in between. I hope when you say you are "missing everything" that you are talking about when using spin. Shooting center ball shouldn't matter, although again because of the above visual trick and the feel in your bridge hand you might not be comfortable shooting with the smaller shaft yet.

Try to stick with more center ball until you are used to it. With that OB2, you barely have to adjust for deflection, if at all, when shooting soft - medium speed and from a reasonably close distance (2 - 3 diamonds). When shooting harder or from farther away, BHE or a combination of FHE and BHE works very well with those shafts, you will just have to play with it until you are comfortable for your stroke and cue. Set up typical shots where you would go 2 or 3 rails with inside, or pulling the ball back with outside, and just keep experimenting with speed and different methods or amounts of adjustments for the spin/speed and you will start to get comfortable. If after a reasonable time you still aren't, then maybe it's time to sell the shaft and try something else.
