Help me identify this Meucci..!

Hello to the forum,

Well, I just arrived here! Nice to find such a "crowded" billiard place on the internet.

Anyway, this cue is coming to my hands in a few days, but couldn't find any info on the net about it. I know it is a Meucci, but no further than that... It has a "red dot" shaft, if it helps. I am really interested in retrieving more about when it was made, what price class was it etc.

So, could anyone help me out with this? I know there are many really experienced people in here. Give it a try!

Thanx a lot for any suggestions!

George,
Greece

Hello,

That is one of Meucci's "Americana Series" I do believe. Sold a few 3-4 years ago, Retail was around $200 I think.

yes.. that cue came with either wooden handle or open wrap.... i never seen one with a sealed wrap like the traditional meucci..

Hello again,

thanx for the enlightenment! I hope it does have a good feel.

I will come up with more photos as soon as I get my hands to it.

Would you consider a joss or maybe a mcdermott at that price tag? I chose this because of the "red dot" shaft and it's low (supposed) deflection. Every cue that comes from overseas is really overpriced here in Greece...

You can get either joss or mcdermott cue's in that price range for a plain one, much better cues than a meucci in my humble opinion.

Thanx for the (immediate) answer! But, could you be a bit more specific? I have been playing 3-cushion for a few years now, and recently switched to 9-ball because of the lack of good carom tables in the city that I live now. I have been practicing enough the last 3-4 months (I *have* played 9 and 8-ball before, just not as seriously as now) with a predator "sneaky pete" with a 314 shaft (my buddy's cue). If you could tell me the idea behind your suggestion on joss or mcdermott, I would be more than interested to hear it!

Thanx again!

Well I like Joss and Mcdermott cue's in that price range. You can find new plain ones at various online retailers for 200 or so, I have a joss for sale now in the wanted/for sale with points and inlays for 320. They both make good solid production cues. You can also readily get predator shafts for either if you like predator shafts (I personally don't). I think that Joss in as a production cuemaker is about the best your going to find. Lots of customs cuemakers out there as well who make great hitting cue's, but not in the 200 dollar range. Meucci cue's have a high degree of warpage and other failures in the newer line of cue's, their customer service has been terrible in the last few years as well. Older meucci's were great hitting cue's, for some reason the quality just has slipped last 15 years or so imho.

Yes, well I wanted to limit my selection to the $200 tag. Custom cues are out of my reach for several reasons (price, no satisfactory way to order from here, etc.).

I do not understand what warpage means though. Please forgive my ignorance, english is not my native language.

Thank you.
