I am currently in the market for a Gold Crown. I would really like a GC3 and I believe that I found one on Craigslist.
I took a look at it yesterday. The table appears to be in great shape and seems well kept. The only thing that struck me as odd was that the entire bottom of the table is black and the top is mohagany. It's only mohagany on the topside of the rails and I can't seem to find this color scheme anywhere. Is this common and Google just isn't finding it for me or should I be concerned this is a fake?
I am hiring a table mechanic that I trust to move the table, set it up, replace the rubber, and recover the table so I know I won't end up buying this table if it's a fake, I'm sure that he will let me know. I don't want to waste his time, and my money having him come all of the way out there if it's clearly something that never existed.
The table had an aluminum Brunswick placard on the rail and a large Gold Crown placard under the bottom, but I couldn't really quickly locate any other identifying marks.
Thanks for the help.
