Help with points for a new cue

I’m designing my playing cue and trying to figure out how do I get to show more wood in the points of the cue. Here’s an example of a few of my cues and as you can see there is only a little wood showing in the points. Prather made these for me. IMG_0223.JPG

Help with wider points

I believe the 'V' groove must be cut deeper into the forearm than what your cues show so the points will be wider after they are machined on the lathe. Then the gap between the veneers of one point to the next point will be closer, thus the center point wood will be wider. Do you notice how much of the forearm wood is showing between the points and how thin the points are? All due to (too shallow) of the 'V' grooves for the points. Draw a 'end view' of the forearm and it will be crystal clear. One with a shallow 'V' groove and one with a deeper 'V' groove.

Deeper v-grooves or less veneers are the only ways to do it that I know of also.

Can you cut angles wider than 90 degrees to get wider opening without going so deep? I have cut them 90 but when you try to get them to nearly touch sometimes you go through the wood. Just curious if anyone uses anything except 90 degrees?

Points

I use 90 degrees but I cut opposite sides first then fill them and cut the other points. They come out nearly touching. :)
