Help with Titlist Conversion

I have a two piece Willie Hoppe Professional that I'm having converted (I'm not sure this is technically a conversion). Anyway, the butt rolls straight on the lathe. The original shaft also rolls straight on the lathe. So, my question is: should I use the original shaft with this conversion? How will this old shaft play compared to a new shaft?

I would play with the old shaft first and see if I like it. If not, I'll have a new one made by an excellent cuemaker or get a blank tech shaft and have it properly fitted to the butt.
