Hey Dennis and Jimmy

For two guys that did'nt individually receive a dime from the recent Desert Classic Tournament held at Main Street Billiards in Tucson, Az. this weekend, it was obvious that you both gave a million dollar effort in organizing and conducting the activities of the tournament...it showed.

Smoothly run...a lot happening within it...good player response. A great tournament.

I am proud to be one of your Desert Classic tournament sponsors. Thank you.

I concur

Garth ......... I totally agree with you regarding the effort these two guys have given in the creation of this tour. When you consider that it was February (I think) when Mike Howerton announced that the old Arizona All Around Tour would not be held in 2008, what Dennis Orender and Jimmy Mendoza have acomplished is nothing short of amazing. I personally know how much work is involved to organize and run an individual tournament, but to organize a complete 2008 nine event tour in a matter of a few weeks, and to have the first two events be so successful, is unbelieveable. Not to mention, they both have full time jobs and still got it done. The players in Arizona really do owe each of them a big thanks for taking the initiative to do what they have done. Other than the money they WIN in their tour tournaments, Dennis and Jimmy have absolutely zero to gain financially even though they both will have contributed many, many, hours of their own time and own money. .... I too am a sponsor of their tour through my web site, www.azpoolscene.com and I too am proud to be a sponsor. With that said, lets also throw out a huge thank you to the title sponsor of this tour to Chuck Bobbitt of Visual Impressions.

Thanks for the kind words, guys. Dennis and I wanted to have tournaments to play in as much as anyone else here in AZ and, when we heard there wasn't going to be a tour in 2008, we kinda hit the panic button and started working to keep the tournaments going.

Of course, without the support we've received from our sponsors, such as yourselves, and Mike Howerton not having laid the groundwork with the All-Around tour for the past 4 years, we definitely would have had a tougher time getting this started.

Unfortunately, I didn't spend the night in Tucson Saturday night and, by the time I could have gotten on the road back to Tucson today, it was late enough that I didn't feel like it was worth it. I would have liked to have been there to see the finals and, perhaps, commentate some matches*, but I just couldn't get back in time. I'll definitely be getting a room in town for our November tournament in Tucson. :)

And what Scooper said is true. Dennis and I aren't making any money from this. Everything we collect, be it through tour memberships, raffled cues, etc., is going back into the tour; most of which will be going into the added money for our season finale in December which, at this point, is a guaranteed $5000-added event.

Again, thanks for the kind words, and if anyone else reading this is interested in playing in any of our events, you can visit our website (desertclassictour.com), or just email us at info@desertclassictour.com with any questions you may have. The site is not 100% complete yet but, as of now, you can get most of the information you need. Anyone is welcome to play, whether you're a professional, amateur, non-AZ resident, etc. In fact, we'd love to see more participation from out-of-town'ers and promoting our tour in neighboring states is one of the things we've been talking about and will be working on.

I'd also like to give a big thanks to Chuck Bobbitt, owner of Visual Impressions, for making this possible by title-sponsoring our tour. He's been putting a lot of money into local pool, including the upcoming $25,000-added Desert Shootout, and deserves a lot of credit for his efforts and contributions.

* For those who don't know, we will be filming various matches from our tournaments and they will be available to view on our website. This tournament produced our first batch of recorded matches, so that is why there are no matches on the site just yet. Look for them soon though.

I don't have much time to post right now. I just wanted to say thanks to Ron Merseal and Garth Bair, two sponsors of the Arizona Desert Classic Tour, for the kind words. We are extremely grateful for your contributions to the tour. Without the sponsors, this tour would not be possible.

Like i said in the beginning, we will give 110% to making sure this tour succeeds. The Tucson event was a huge success. As Jimmy mentioned, the Championship now exceeds $5000.00 added.

And to our title sponsor, Chuck Bobbitt, from Visual Impressions, I told you we were going to try and top the Dust Off tourney in added money. Guess what? :) You got some competition! :) Maybe, back to the drawing board? :) Thanks Chuck! You are the man!

I have not been able to make it to an event yet this year but hopefully I will be able to soon. Even though I haven't been able to make it out I have told as many people as I could about the tour and will continue to do so.
I would like to thank you all for what you are doing and I think it is awesome.
Great job guys.

Thank you. Maybe you could make it in June for the Az. State Straight Pool Championships being held at Kolby's. That will be our next tour stop.
