hiolle Cues?

Hrmm I am pretty sure that synthetic plastic wasnt invented until around 1910 give or take a couple years...I would venture a guess that this is a reproduction of the original.

Well whether he is well respected or not, he bought the cue here for $129:

He sold the cue here for $255:

And he is relisting it again, perhaps due to a failed deal? Here:

I am no Hiolle cue expert, but I do have eyes and common sense. If the cue has a plastic buttcap and plastic inlays then it is not circa 1880.

I can also observe that while similar this cue is not the cue listed in Pool & billiard collectibles by mark stellinga, page 227 for $2,750.00. Picture available via second link, see for yourself.

It is just my opinion, however I would say this is a replica of the original made circa 1960.

the cue is mine.

yes, i bought it at a decent price.

yes i am reselling it.

the exact markings, logo, points, inlays, HAND CARVED cue is in the book in question.

the cue was purchased by an ebay member, but he decided he didnt want it, (buyers remorse) and gave me excuses why he didnt want it.

as always, i give people their money or cue back to them if they are not 100% satisfied.

the cue is now for sale back on ebay.

hiolle did not make a reproduction of this 8 pointer in the 60's. thats why i bought it. sampaio made cues similar to it in the 60's, BUT it's an hiolle......era of hiolle cues are in the late 1800's. if you had the cue in your hand and the book in the other, you would see it's the same cue.

it will sell for whatever it sells for on ebay.

we will all find out.

Not correct- there were thermoplastics in the 1800s, cellulose thermoplastic was used on French Hiolle cue joints and it was actually a very good cue joint. Cellulose was, in fact, invented in France, where Hiolle cues were made since 1820. Cellulose thermoplastic was used by Hyatt for billiard balls in the 1800s as well.
