Not correct- there were thermoplastics in the 1800s, cellulose thermoplastic was used on French Hiolle cue joints and it was actually a very good cue joint. Cellulose was, in fact, invented in France, where Hiolle cues were made since 1820. Cellulose thermoplastic was used by Hyatt for billiard balls in the 1800s as well.Hrmm I am pretty sure that synthetic plastic wasnt invented until around 1910 give or take a couple years...I would venture a guess that this is a reproduction of the original.
