I'm assuming they're talking about a cue. They're just saying that the cue hits great.

Doesn't give too much twank/flex to the shaft when it strikes the cueball. Meucci's...do not hit like a ton. Southwests..do. A lot depends on the cut of shaft, pin used, joint/ferrule material, hardness of tip. All will change the hit slightly.

What do you mean by solid?
This means that the materials and construction method used is optimized for the function. A player exerts less effort performing shots with a solid cue compared to a sub-optimal cue. A solid cue is advantageous in a game where "touch/feel" is a major factor in performing at a higher playing level. Plus, not needing to expend as much energy in performing shots develops the players "feel" for a shot or the subtle degrees of force needed to perform a shot which also makes it less tiring to use compared to a lesser quality cue.

Durability (longevity of use) and consistency (in feedback imparted) are also characteristics and advantages of a solid cue.

Design (aesthetic) is what magnifies the virtues of a solid cue and sets it apart from lesser quality cues. Design is what beckons at or catches the attention of a person in this visually dependent world and it later becomes the cuemaker's identifier.

For me, pulling out a solid cue from my case is like yelling"It's showtime"!

I think I get it. I thought maybe "hits a ton" just meant that the person liked the way the cue played. But if instead it means that it hits solid...as in without flex...then I'd say my pechauer cue with pechauer shaft hits a ton. But the predator shaft doesn't. The pechauer shaft is very stiff, and plays completely differently. (I got it made to 13mm with a 12.5" pro taper, linen ferrule, and moori tip with pad.)
