This year the One Pocket HOF dinner at Derby City is in a much bigger room than it was last year, so we can accomodate more guests. However, with several extra-popular players being inducted, we have over 75 tickets already sold or commited for a room that holds about 100.
So, there will be some $50 tickets available at the DCC, but expect them to go fast!
I do not arrive until Sat the 7th in the afternoon, but Randi Mathews is authorized to collect money and put your name on the guest list for these last 20 or so available seats. Don't panic if you are already on my list, but if you are not, see Randi at the AZBilliards/OnePocket.org Room (The 'Shannon Room') at the Executive West daily from noon until 6PM. She can add you to the list.
All of the living inductees (except Ed Kelly) are expected to be there -- they all seem real excited and have an entourage coming as well
For the posthumous inductions, we have Steve Cook's father coming to accept for Steve; Gary Spaeth's widow accepting for Gary; Eddie Taylor's recent widow accepting for Eddie, and Cornbread Red's son-in-law accepting for Red, so this promises to be a powerful as well as entertaining evening.
New for this year is a rare display of One Pocket related memorabilia -- and it sounds like we will have quite a variety of rare items to view: several photo albums, original trophies going back to 1970, original tournament flyers and posters going back to Johnston City, and more!
This event is in the other DCC hotel this year -- the Executive Inn, across the street from the West -- but they are promising regular shuttle service between hotels. The doors open at 6PM (Tuesday the 10th) for the cash bar, memorabilia display and mixing with the inductees; dinner is the Inn's Executive Buffet around 7PM; the inductions follow dinner.
Ask anybody who attended last year, this event is a blast!
See you in Louisville!!
